Felices senderos!

Second 4 Deserts event: Nepal 2011

I'm very pleased to announce that a couple weeks ago I registered for my second Racing The Planet - 4 Deserts event, this time Nepal 2011. It's very exciting for quite a few reasons, first of all Nepal is one destination I've been wanting to travel to for quite a long time, so this is finally taking place. Another very exciting fact is that two great friends will be racing along with me: Sebastian "Sea bass" Guevara from Argentina and now a big chef in Hong Kong, and Maurice "Turu" Dides manager of explora at Atacama. The three of us used to run together when working in Patagonia, so this will be the Patagonian contingent in Nepal. And last but not least, after following my girlfriend Andrea's great performance at the 2010 Atacama Crossing, as a part of Team Chile, I began to get once again that weird feeling of wanting to do something extremely tough...the type of situation you later ask yourself "why did sign up for this??..." or "why aren't I on a beach having a drink!!..".

Well, it's a long way until this event so lots to get done. Hopefully I'll be able to find more sponsors and support to make it there, lots of early/late runs, a good charity to support, etc., but for sure it'll be a great incentive to keep on the move wherever I am.

In the meantime, trying to get as many k's in for the K42 Adventure Mountain Marathon on August 28, my first big off-road event of the year. I hope that an improved nutrition, track workouts, massages, core and strength exercises, chiropractors and lots of (painful) stretching will pay off on race day.

Cheers!
